Those are amazing - they remind a little of photos I've seen of Roman or Egyptian marbles, made of clay... One of them (bottom right) looks a little like a musket ball...
Some of them are made of clay; others are (obv.) marble & other stones. They really do look like little musket balls, some of them - or little cannon balls, all chipped and in need of smoothing out... :D
Interesting. I wonder how they did that back then. There would have to be a binder. Maybe animal glue? (made from hooves and horn and hide, etc.) You should research Georgian marbles.
How did you, or your GF, decide that you should have Georgian marbles?
She was trying to find vintage (glass) marbles for crafting, and ran across them, and thought they were perfect for me (Georgian + me having lost them....)
