George Cadogan: The Ferret Mutiny 1806

Jun 08, 2011 00:56

Last week nodbear and I posted the story of a mutiny that took place on the West Indies Station in 1806. The ship was the sloop Ferret, captain the Honorable George Cadogan. Cadogan began his naval career as a 12 year old Boy, First Class aboard HMS Indefatigable under Captain Sir Edward Pellew and later transferred with him to the ship of the line Impetueux. If you're interested in reading George's troubled tale just follow the links below.

Part 2: The Court Martial aboard HMS Elephant, "...and in the highest state of Mutiny..."
Part 3: The Punishment Records, "...insolence, drunkenness, disobedience of orders, neglect of duty..."
Part 4: The Personal Cost, "...I am very low & unwell..."
