Nelson's uniform conservation update and Gossport Navy Day

A couple of items of interest...

The National Maritime Museum has posted two updates on the conservation of Nelson's Trafalar uniform coat covering the attachment of the silk lining and the removal of Nelson's orders. The video showing the removal of the orders is particularly fasicnating as you get to see the orders themselves in close up along with the hole from the bullet that killed Nelson.

Also Gossport Discover Centre is running a Navy Day on the 9th of June 2011 which will include a workshop on interpreting naval photographs with staff from the Imperial War Museum and a video presentation on historical naval characters in fictional film by the Bodleian Library's Maritime History Subject Specialist, Justin Reay.
