PotC: On Stranger Tides is just coming, and the moviemakers won't be able to say that they hadn't a possibility to the proper research. Queen Anne's Revenge, sunk in 1718, was discovered (supposedly) again in 1996. The historical advisor does do the research and knows the stuff top notch.

Whether the directors, designers, etc. actually want to listen to him is another matter.

The Mouse will have my head if I say more. I just want to say, don't blame the historical advisers for the wrongdoings in movies. It really is not their fault.

Hmm, have I said something like this? :) "Moviemakers" doesn't mean "historical advisers", at least not only, am I wrong? Probably I was too vague, but I meant that: (supposed)QAR was found long ago = anyone who want to make a movie about her has the real object to rely on, not only archives and speculations. If the movie crew puts aside the historians' opinion (what is quite probable in the PotC case), then it's just like putting aside the artifact (or an archive, or whatever) itself, cause the historian is the intermediary here ( ... )

Oh, no I quite understand. I just had an experience this summer (of which I cannot speak of :( ), and wanted to get it out there that the historical adivsors do everything they can to keep a movie accurate. They're just not always listened to. Especially in the case of the Pirates movies. It wasn't anything against what you were saying; I completely agree with you.

Oh, OK then, I thought I said something wrong. :) *gives a big hot mug of whatever-consolator-you-like-the-most* At least the AoS fandom(s) listens to the historical advisors. :)

Aww, I visited the QAR labs a couple of months ago and got to see the artifacts they were working on. It was awesome!
