aikidomayland was feeling well enough to go see 'Over The Hedge". If laughter is the best medicine, he will be cured of his cold if he watches it again.
If you are looking to find some cerebral, pseudo-intellectual movie, don't see "Over The Hedge". If you want to rock with laughter, then go see it. The characterizations were perfect.
RJ the raccoon gets busted by Vincent the Bear raiding his cave. Vincents' stash gets destroyed, and RJ is told he has to replace everything. He meets recently out of hibernation Vernon and his family of forest animals. They spot THE HEDGE, and RJ tells them not to be afraid of it, as it is the gate to opportunity and riches. Then the fun starts.
My personal favorite was Hammy the Hyper Squirrel (But I would like the cookie!). Many of his antics had me laughing until I couldn't see. There were dozens of tributes and send up of many movies. I really liked the homage to Pepe Le Pew/Chuck Jones combined with "Street Car Named Desire".
Hammy on caffeine was probably the best scene for me. From start to finish. That and him 'chasing the red bug'. What a way to toast marshmallows, and pop Microwave popcorn without a microwave.
Go see it, you won't be disappointed.
