Storage Hoarding

I have to admit, I have become a hdd storage hoarder. I don't mean I keep each and every file or program I have ever made or installed. I mean getting larger hard drives to make images of the systems, and for storage of installation files, video files, photographs etc. I guess it has to do with having once had a complete loss of data because of a ( Read more... )

My sister! Yeah, I'm addicted to thumb drives. I love to store stuff on them and pass it back and forth; it's so convenient.

I have a few of those thumb drives. Love em for quick transfers from one computer to another. I also have a Stakka, which makes storage searches so much easier.

Very nifty. I remember when a 128 MEG thumb drive was more expensive than those! :o

Hey, I remember my first thumb drive; it was 64 MB. And then I had a 128 MB sd card, which I thought was just...extravagent.

Do you remember your first 1 or 2 GIG hard drive? I thought I would NEVER use all that space! I remember when I had a 345MEG drive, and thought that was huge. I have programs bigger than that.

I was like...."OMG, a whole GIG!" And it was some outrageous price. Now you can get thumb drives with 128 gbs on it; it's just outrageous. And I love it. You can get a gb thumb drive for a few bucks, and you can loan a TV episode to somebody on one of those. I keep thinking this should revolutionize spy novels or something like that. And micro SD cards! Holy cow, those things are SMALL!

It's odd that SMALL requires capitals, though.

Wow, talk about a trip through memory lane: I still have a working IOMEGA Zip Drive, with a back up of the computer I used to have in the US. It's so tempting to reload everything onto one of my older laptops. :D

I have about 60 Zip disks to go with my external USB zip drive. The other day I copied the whole lot onto a hard drive. 6 gigs of space in total, and only one disk was a dud.
Of the 60 disks I backed up, 80% were montly or weekly sync backups of the same files, from 2001-2003. (I'm beginning to spot a trend here ...)
