So, yet more self promotion!
I'm currently involved in an outreach competition called Your Science Your Say where three scientists (Shane Bergin from Trinity, Ciaran MacanBhaird from Maynooth and myself) talk about our research in short, youtube style videos. These videos are then put to public vote and the overall winner is given a small grant. It's like reality tv, but with science.
This is part of an experiment to get the public involved in how research is funded and give them a taster of what's going on with science in Ireland. It's also been pretty entertaining trying to fit interesting science into a 4 minute video.
So how can you do a little bit to help?
Visit www.science.ie and take part in the online poll. The online poll will count for 15% of the final total.
And if you want to do a big bit to help?
The other 85% of the total comes from video votes. There are two ways to submit a video vote. You can visit the Science Gallery at Trinity College in Dublin and record a vote in the booth set up there. The other option is to submit a video response at the Your Science Your Say youtube channel. So if you're in Dublin and have some free time, or just feel like seeing your face on youtube, consider dropping me a vote!
