So, as January dwindles to its close, I begin to seriously contemplate my plans for the year ahead. I was considering attending the Queer Kiss-in, but I didn't write down the date, and what happened? I made another commitment for the same day, and wound up missing it. Every year I buy a planner, use it for a month or two, then revert to my old ways of just trying to remember when things are, and usually missing them. This year, I couldn't be bothered to look for a planner, but considered buying one from the general merchandise department at the Co-op. But when I looked at the ones we had left, none of them seemed like the sort of thing I'd enjoy picking up and looking at on a daily basis. I even did a little online searching, and still nothing looked like a planner I'd use.
Then, like magic, one day
the 2008 Slingshot Organizer shows up on the rack with the other calendars and planners at the Co-op. I bought it in half a heartbeat, without even realizing just how cool it was, and it has been pleasantly surprising me with every page I turn. Finally. A planner I will use and love using. I will get organized. I will break out of my apathy.
It's like: have you seen that commercial for some cell phone gadget or another that's supposed to get your family as organized as you would be if you had a giant Scandanavian personal assistant named Sven? My Slingshot organizer is the pierced, tattooed, co-op living Berkeley equivalent of Sven. Instead of getting me out of bed for my Kung-fu lesson, she'll get me to the rallys and protests and grassroots movements I should really be participating in.
Or maybe it'll just get me to the optometrist on time. Either way. My lovely little paper planner makes me super-happy :)
