I meant the characters. It'd take inhuman efforts for Watanuki to do something openly romantic towards Doumeki... remember how hard it was for him to thank Doumeki for, oh, you know, simply giving up most of his blood to keep Watanuki alive? (and I loved that Doumeki tried to sneak a peek at Watanuki's face when he did. XD)
And Doumeki... I once read a great one-shot in which he tries, the poor thing, but he doesn't seem built for romantic gestures. The most we can hope from him is being embarrassingly open and direct about his feelings... and then requesting food and/or booze, probably. -_-
(Seriously, Haruka smoked and Doumeki drinks despite being underage... there seems to be too many vices in the Doumeki household for people meant to be priests. O_o)

I'm so happy we agree on that. The lack of proper smexy scenes with that Doumeki present is one of the main reasons I wrote this.

Yeah... though did you know that it's probably his upbringing the reason he doesn't smile much?
There seems to be a Buddhist belief that showing bone is dirty, and teeth fall into this "bone" category...
If you notice, even smile-happy Haruka smiled with his lips closed...
I only found this out after I'd written "The Wollen Monstrosity", but I'm too fond of his smile in that story to change it now. >_<

Oh yeah, I remember. And Doumeki does try, in his own socially-backward way.

Isn't there something in the X-verse about smoking increasing one's powers? I think it was a Subaru/Seishirou thing in X. I don't know about drinking, but that's what I've always thought of when it comes to Yuuko and Haruka smoking so much. In the CLAMP-world, it doesn't have the same effects on pretty magical people, I guess. XP

...I don't remember about that (I'm not much of an X fan... it's kind of too dark and bloody for me to digest), but it would actually make sense, if you put it that way. O_o
Pretty magical people must be inmune to lung cancer, in the CLAMP world. And notice how none of the smokers have a raspy voice? :P

I'm a research freak, I confess. And I have a keen eye and a good memory for useless detail, so it's almost unhealthy. You should have seen me looking for information on Japanese Buddhist rites (depsite the fact that I'm Christian) because I have a future!fic plotbunny nibbling at a corner of my mind and I have to see if I'd actually be able to write a priest!Doumeki story and make it plausible...
Though I'm not too happy about the prospect of a Doumeki with a shaved head, to tell you the truth. >_<
...though I'm definitely looking forward to an adult Watanuki looking a lot like Clow did... *drools*
