Most fic is posted to ao3, but the real fandom "community" is on tumblr these days. I really, really miss the LJ days. My main fandom (SGA) is spread between LJ/DW and tumblr, with little overlap.
Tumbl scares me. From outside, it seems to be a black hole that utterly consumes people and won't release their hold on their free time. :P
Also it seems to be mainly visual in nature, or at least what I've seen, and I've always been better with words.
I love AO3, but it really would benefit from a community aspect... a forum or at least the ability to message people independently from the comments on their stories.
Tumblr is definitely a black hole that sucks you in and refuses to let you go. It is really visual in nature, though there ARE some text posts. But yeah, it's very different from LJ.
It WOULD be nice if they created a forum or something. Though they would probably need to expand their servers and such...
Yeah, a forum might be a bit much, but why not private messaging? It can't take up much more room in the servers than the comments, and it would be nice to be able to approach someone that way. Heck, ff.net does it, and everybody knows that website is not ideal.
Meanwhile, I've been tidying up my stories. I rounded up my backups, and though I lost many of my really old stories (we're talking mostly Mary Sues written in Spanish when a teenager, here) I was still able to save most of it. I have waaaaaaay more disconnected things written down than I thought I did. O_o
I've been posting some stragglers from the kink memes and prompts to my ao3 (http://archiveofourown.org/users/Anyjen/works), in case you want to check them out. It's really not much yet, but more is coming.
Ooo, private messaging would be AMAZING. You're right in that it can't take up much more room than comments...hmm. Someone should suggest it to the people who run AO3.
I'll definitely have to check out your ao3 - and subscribe :D Maybe I'll even rewatch 'Holic to remind myself of my love for Doumeki and Watanuki...
What have you been up to?

I miss the days that fandom was centralized.
