Oh, anyjay, that was great.

Heh. I'm feeling bad for Xander about the impending doom of this relationship... but feeling good about the impending doom of the relationship.

Eventually Xander gave up, changed all the ergonomic settings on the chair so Giles would know he’d been here - much more fun than writing a note - and headed off the great hall for the ceremony.

Love it. Hilarious and perfectly Xandery.

"It was just so amazing that someone like Richard could ever want me, that I really, really wanted it to be the real thing.”

Huh. I know that one. I could very much buy Xander being swept up that way.

So I was surprised to realize one day that I disliked him quite intensely.

Hee, beautifully Giles.

Ah, I'm a sucker for the OMC relationship plot device, and I enjoyed this one a lot.

Thank you!

S.

*laughter* Yeah. It's that kind of fic.

I think most people could be. We all want to be loved, especially by someone we've idealized.

I'm so very glad you liked this, Dr. S.

Oh, this is great! I love it. It's funny and sweet, and so totally Xander that he'd make the big realization so suddenly and be so horrified by it.

Xander stood and backed away from Giles, as if he could escape the knowledge.

Hee. And I like how the reader knows before Xander does--not just because we've read at the top of the page that it's a Giles/Xander story, but because he goes to so much trouble to seek out Giles and tease him, and there's absolutely none of that in the relationship with Richard.

And I love this:
The Giles-pestering portion of the evening was missing a key component and it was making Xander cranky. Xander spun around in Giles’ chair and made a mental list of new nicknames that Giles would hate. He’d never really been able to top G-man, but that didn’t stop him trying. Xander’s own office chair could spin, too, but it wasn’t not nearly as much fun if it didn’t tick off the Head-Watcher-arino. Xander considered a moment, and crossed that one off his list.

Thank you so much! It was worth waiting for.

I'm so very glad it was worth waiting for, Delilah Joy. I hated missing the deadline, but there was no way I could have posted on Sunday. Thanks for your kind note about that.

Yay! I'm glad Xander's dedication to the Giles-pestering portion of the evening got the message across.

Thanks for the great prompt. As soon as I read it I knew the OMC was going to be a pseudo-Giles so that he could realize how much he really wanted the real thing.

Just now, as I write this comment, I realize how much funnier it would have been to have had Giles dating a Xanderesque OMC. But is there really anyone else quite like Xander? :-D

You know I just knew that as soon as Xander said he had the perfect man and it wasn't Giles just how this was gonna go. And I am very amused that Xander figured it out last.
