i don't write about what really frustrates me with the "american" culture or other countries that are influenced by our culture, but i must vent.
this commercial (youtube link) was removed from the the television set in australia. as many know, this has happened a number of times within the US. the commercial was pulled because some parents are concerned that their kids may get the idea to drive the car and end up in an accident (
see article).
so... now. are you telling me that kids won't get this idea from you driving a car? doesn't your kid ride with you when you drive? if i go down to the local toys-r-us, there are toys specifically that allow kids to pretend to drive while the parents drive. a penpal of mine (from australia), said that they sell similar toys in her country as well. should we have these toys pulled from the shelves?!?
so when did it become routine for parents to not be parents? did the creation of the PTA (Parent/Teacher Association) start this? maybe, just maybe, it's a result of parents just getting too lazy at explaining life to their kids.
i, for one, was raised with the understanding that i am a product of my parents. i was taught to not be afraid to ask questions and that i should be curious about life. my parents ensured that i understood the difference between right from wrong.
so parents... it's not the responsibility of others to teach your kids; it's YOUR responsibility! don't blame others for your lack of parental skills, it doesn't help your child. so, please, do your damn job.

speaking of idiotic parents, i just remembered about an
old post of mine.
