Matthew Shepard was a sad incident. It was also murder. If you really support America than you should support our rights and liberties, such as the right to life.

Uhm, it is defined as a hate crime. A hate crime is any crime in which the perpatrator chooses their victim based upon prejudices. They chose him becasue they hated gays. That is a hate crime as the federal government defines.

I agree that it happened long ago, and the media did portray it as a gay bashing. I've never done too much research into that case, so I don't know what the drive-by-media misreported or not. I will say that things have changed, fortunately. I don't know anyone who's been hate-crimed to that degree in my life.
