Doctor Kathy Miller was just putting on her coat to go home after a long shift when her cell phone rang. It was Melissa, one of her favorite nurses from the ER.

“Doctor Miller, are you still in the hospital?”

“I was just about to leave, why?”

“I hate to bother you, but we have a patient here who might need your expertise.”

I loved this chapter. I do live in the states but don't really know the law regarding these things either. How you wrote it makes perfect sense to me.

Poor Blaine. I hope Kurt comes home soon.

This chapter was really good. I liked your OC.

The states are not really one place. Each state has different laws, and I don't live in Ohio. If a doctor suspects ongoing abuse of a minor, they have to report it in every state. (I have to do that as a teacher as well.) I believe it's up to the person to press charges in the case of sexual assault, though. Since Blaine is over the age of consent in Ohio. I'm pretty sure you wrote everything correctly procedural-wise. (Nothing struck me as being OMG that would never happen, anyhow.)

This is still wonderful. I love your Burt. And poor Blaine. :(

Good to know nothing sticks out as unrealistic. I'm kind of nitpicky with such details when I read, so I try to do research before I write something I'm not entirely sure about, but some topics are so extensive that I'd never get to finish writing if I waited until I know everything there is to know about every detail. Especially when it's about law, when it can differ so much from one state to another.

I'm so used to writing and reading HP, where I've been Britpicked to hell and back, so maybe my brain is stuck in Britain. I'm usually not big on Ameripicking except for certain words. Procedural things only sometimes get me. (Though I accidentally got the British edition of a Hardy Boys book, and it threw me to have them refer to the bonnet of a car. Maybe it's because I read those with my kids and then I had to explain that one to them.) I was thrown recently when I read a fic where Burt was referred to as an Englishman.

Oh wow, I haven't even thought about British vs. American yet. Now I'll start to obsess about that ;) (I'm not a native English speaker, but I've been taught British English and read HP fanfiction for years before Glee, so I just hope I don't use some weird Mid-Atlantic mix now).

What's the definition of a minor here? Is it up to 21 or until the age of consent? I checked the age of consent in Ohio and Google states it's 16, and that's what got me confused (I was going to go with statutory rape line initially).

Also, I believe that Kathy here reports all the cases of abuse she gets, I was just curious if she risked something if she didn't insist on calling the police and taking Blaine's statement right away.
