I know you have a song for inspiration here, but Blaine's vision got me thinking of that lovely 80's song Somebody by Depeche Mode. I've always thought it's the perfect Klaine song and if I had any talent I'd make a fanvid.

Oh wow, I loved this song years ago! My first serious boyfriend used to play it for me. It's lovely, thank you for reminding me :) You're right, it would be perfect for them, too bad I have no way to use it here. But I think I'll find a place for it in my next story.

How I wish Glee would do that song; it's so stripped-down and would suit Klaine's voices perfectly, but it also fits all the couples: Tike, Finchel, Brittana and Pizes even. Not sure about Wemma and Quick, they've got issues.
Oooh,I just thought of another 80's song that would be a perfect future-fic prompt... :D

In my head they break up from distance or ennui, not from a big fight or cheating; they're in touch but not really via Facebook or ND friends. They find themselves both single in California (or somewhere else with warm weather and beach/shore possibilities) and they try hanging out and be themselves without the "are we a couple" pressure.

Proud HS class of 1989. I used to write and was managing editor of the school paper back then! Now I just write lessons, Powerpoint presentations and recipes (I teach at a cooking school). Favorite line from the song (not least because it stings a little):
I won't ask for promises, so you don't have to lie
We've both played this game before, say "I love you" then say goodbye.

It's these two, they bring out the want for fleshed-out headcanon... who knows, it might get me writing again. Although it might make a good prompt for an all-over "Glee couples-- where are they in 10 years" fic that I'd love to read but could never coherently construct.
