Lately its become a little bit of a dream to actually sit down and write my very own piece of fanfic, but I will admit to be horrifically scared. I only discovered the joys of reading it about eight months ago. I'd just finished rewatching the entire series of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and felt a little...well....unfinished.

Write it! You'll never know until you commit it to paper.

You don't have to show it to anyone. And start small, perhaps a 100 word drabble from a prompt to test the waters rather than go straight to the epic. Plus, everyone starts out rubbish, don't let that defeat you. The cringeworthy stuff is people having a go and (hopefully) learning the craft, but if you can work out why they went wrong, maybe you can take a little shortcut by avoiding their mistakes.

I'm afraid it's a phase you have to go through, very few can put pen to paper for the first time and produce something magical, and if it seems like it then they are either astonishing talented or they just didn't show you the grotty stuff.
