orientation day four
i really wish i had had a computer all along so i could have updated this in real time, instead of a week later. ah well.
after breakfast on tuesday, we were split into two groups. my group had a workshop called "giving feedback", where we had to do a few role playing exercises. the first was between two roommates; the second was between a student and a professor. i didn't find it that interesting, although watching some of the role playing was fun.
lunch. i ended up talking to olin's new chem professor for an hour or so. he had a stack of trivia questions with him, some of which i actually knew. my best categories (each category had 10 questions), were musicals, songs, and star trek. i also found out that there's another freshman (i'm very frustrated that i can't remember who it was) who likes to do puzz3ds.
went to a meeting about the jamroom and the conductorless orchestra, and signed up for proxy card access to the jamroom. now i can go in there to sing. yay.
introduction to assessment presentation in the auditorium. eh.
scavenger hunt. the other three people in my group all agreed that it wasn't set up very well, in that every clue was available in each found envelope, so you had to search through the envelope for a clue you hadn't found yet. some of the clues were pretty good though. my group found 21 out of 28. the winners found 25, so we thought we did pretty well.
tour of babson. it had been raining, so it was very wet out. my shoes got soaked. after checking today, i think they're just about dry. i think i need to start breaking in my new sneakers.
dinner. food here is awesome.
olin-tastic! that was a lot of fun. it was karaoke and improv and "whose line is it anyway?" and everything else. the r2s did a great job putting it all together. i sang a lot of the karaoke songs. the last one was "you're the one that i want" and i managed to get the one hand mike. i don't know how well i was heard with half the class also singing with me, but rayona (or maybe tiana. one of the r2s) said i sounded really good. it was a lot of fun.
