I'm Done!!!!

Just learned yesterday that I have satisfied all of the requirements for my masters program. I cannot stress enough how much of a relief this is; my last class was very difficult and I just knew that I would not pass and would have to wait until Spring semester 2015 to complete my degree (that's when the class I needed to finish would have been ( Read more... )

THANK YOU!!!! I am feeling a bit discombobulated due to phantom homework pains; I'm certain there is a paper I should be writing or a hundred pages in one night I should be reading, but...nope. Done with that, at least, until August of next year, if some Creative Writing program accepts me. How about you? Where are you on your grad school journey?

You're doing Creative Writing? Oh that's awesome!!!!!!!!! What programs are you considering??

My preliminary examinations are at the end of the month; I have the written exams on the 23rd and the oral defense on the 30th. I wrote a rough draft of my prospectus I can't make my mind up about--no idea if it's brilliant or bullshit--and I'm waiting to make my mind up before give it to my chair. So I am stressed and addled and going back and forth between being zen and panicked.

Wow, you're already defending your thesis?? It seems you only started your program last year! I'm sure it doesn't feel like you've just started to you, however. How do you even prepare for your defense?!? How exciting!

I'd really like to travel across the pond to get my MFA; I figure why not live abroad while I'm single and childfree?? Once I get my ish together I'll be applying to the programs at Lancaster University, Kingston University, and University of London: Queen Mary School. I will also apply to programs closer to home (Chicago) and they most likely will be at DePaul University and Northwestern University. Of course this all depends on when I can get myself out of this weird "OMG, I'm done with school, I just want to sit on my couch and veg" mood I've been in for the last two weeks.

If your prospectus is anything like your lj posts, I'm sure it's brilliant; you're an insightful, thoughtful, intelligent woman and there is no way your work wouldn't reflect that. You'll slay 'em during your defense!

Ooh, good luck on your aps--studying abroad would be *amazing*!! I hope you'll do picspams on lj to show off your adventures!!!!!!!!!

And I'm not defending my thesis yet, heh. The prospectus is just to say "I have an idea and how to go about it" and isn't a fully written project; it's meant just to show I have a plan and that I won't sit around for 3 years and THEN write everything in a manic period. Once my prospectus is approved then I have 3-4 years to write the actual disseration, sharing each chapter with my committee as I go and them approving it as I go, so it's a sort of long and roundabout way to do it. :)
