Today was my
friend Baptiste's last day in Bangalore. He is leaving to Mumbai tomo morning and is flying to Paris from there.A workaholic and a crazy traveller, he says that among all the cities he has travelled in India, he loved Bangalore the most for its calmness. Since I was outta town till yesterday, I couldn't join in for the lunch he had hosted. So I met him for breakfast today. I had promised to take him to SLV Raagigudda someday and it happened today ( reminds me of
deponti ). Later we went to Brigade Road to do some Books/Music shopping.
His six months of stay in India has made him totally crazy for some Indian movies. Apparently he recently went to BigBazaar and picked up an audio CD of Shivaji, The Boss.He got a couple of movie DVDs as gifts. Today he picked up a couple of them too (Salaam Bombay, SRK's DON, DCH, Lagaan,Munnabhai and the list goes on with some classical music CDs too). I was thinking what to gift him but something very Bangalore I could think of when I entered Crossword was RK Laxman's Malgudi Days. Some coffee at India Coffee Board and it was time to say bye. Its interesting on how one could adapt so well to an completely alien culture but yeah I think that has made him the most likeable chap be it the people at his office or the accountant at the Jayanagar 9th Block Corner House. All of us will miss him here.
