I started my intensive dance thingy. the physical aspects of the classes were good, but i don't think i was sufficiently warned of how humiliating the experience would be. Half the brats had not yet hit puberty, so for once i was the most well endowed... though that was the furthest thing from my mind upon entering the jazz class

I know how the stupidity feels though, I'm upstaged by 13 year olds almost every time I pick up an instrument. It's disapointing, but remember, you won't have to compete with them for afew years (anti-moral).

The only problem is that they're trained monkeys. In the sense that they take private lessons and learn what impresses people. They practice a riff for hours and hours because it sounds impressive. When they're striped to bare bones, they're no better than I am.
It's likely much the same with your dancing. These kids do know some stuff, but they only know what looks impressive. They're likely no more talented than you are, they just learn what's impressive from their teachers.
Pride yourself in your independence. That what you do is all your own.
