Man, this short fic is so beautiful it makes me cry. Remember that email forward you probably got 5 or so years ago, about the girl who got angry at her boyfriend who hadn't wished her a happy Valentine's Day, though he promised he had sent her an email, then he died in a car crash and Valentine's Day the next year the girl got 100 copies of the boyfriend's email saying he loved her, all delayed due to server error?
Well, this fic reminds me of that, although without much of the tragedy of one half of a couple left behind. When someone dies, paradoxically, so many hidden, private or unseen things come to light and we find out so much more about them, and the person they are when they were not around us, around different people and friends. They become mysterious and unattainable, and heartbreakingly more beautiful.
This fic made me smile and cry. Please read it.
