Regaining control
After a long chat with Mum and Sarah I've decided to jack the Ventura job in. Despite it paying well it just really wasn't the job for me. The debt is pathetic, the job is one which a trained ape could do and the people and customers there are so uncompromising and mean that the job was just bringing me down. Having just turned 22 and metaphorically having "the whole world ahead of me" I've decided that, actually, the prospect of working there for a year was actually rather wank. So i'm gonna hand in my notice on Monday, work the relevant tedious 1-9 month and scram.
I gave a call to GE as i want my old job back on an 8-4, 8-6 basis. I was happy in this job and it is a good place to work and develop until i decide what i want to do. I have a lot of good friends there too so it will take a lot of pressure off me. Financially it is only a 1,000 pound cut for the year, which is kinda sucky but I'll take the hit. I've never failed anything in my life other than hetrosexuality so i don't mind conceding something so minor at this stage... Working 9-5 will also be far more compatible with Jason's uni timetable, so i will be able to see him and my friends more. Adam pointed out recently just how bad working until 9pm was and i totally agree with him. It's so hard to see friends because they are up early in the morning for their sensible hour jobs. It also means you can't have ANY hobbies whatsoever. Wanna see a movie, go for an evening barbeque, see a play???
Oh sorry i can't because I'm working. I got an email back from them saying they'd more likely than not love to take me back on on a permanent basis. I'll be working in the same office as Adam which will be quite cool. "I'm sorry madame why you call this number for you is not a Brahmin" etc etc
I'm well missing Jace at the moment. He's gone to Hong Kong for like a month or so and it's only been like 3 or 4 days so far! He left on the day of THE GREAT NORTH FLOOD so was technically lucky to escape Leeds at all! I can't wait to move in with him, and currently have all my belongings strewn about the room in anticipation of this. The main reason i decided to stay in the UK was Jason, so this is why i'm so anxious to stop working wank shifts and get onto a more 9-5 friendly job.
Packing is going well. I'm trying to clean my room as i trash it, which is proving somewhat difficult, as the more you move things the dustier the room seems to become. I might have to commit the ultimate sin and move some of my things downstairs and then clean my room. This may mess up "the system" of the mad ins and outs of the ultimate house.... transition day is going to be mental, but at least then one of the Matts will have a nice clean room to arrive to as opposed to a dusty blu-tacked one.
Cleaning out the Joanna Newsom/Gimp closet has taught me just how mental Cory was. I shit you not, these are the titles of the books/dvd's/videos/CD's that i'm removed thus far...
