Fattening us up

Sep 18, 2006 12:54

So I order the usual at McDonald's today. A 6 piece nugget value meal with Dr Pepper to drink and 2 packets of sweet and sour sauce. The total came out to the same, I paid, and when I pulled up to the second window I had a tiny drink, tiny fries and the 6 pack of nuggets. 6 nuggets used to be enough for adults, but now 10 is the number that we need. And 4 used to be enough for the kids but now they need to eat 6. Why are they trying to fatten us up? Did the Grimace demand plumper sacrifices? I know the 10 piece nugget meal changed awhile back but until this day when I said 6 piece nugget meal they kept the proportions the same.

So I was excited about the toy. Last time I was in McDonalds I saw they had these Mario balls. I thought it would be appropriate for our kitten, Bowser, ot have it. But instead I got some Yoshi toy that just makes a noise when you push his back. You are supposed "Give your friend a 5 second head start, then try to tag him. Now try a 10 second head start!" Merely tagging your friend is no longer good enough. Yoshi must make noises nowadays.

Then I look at the bag. It seems as if they are wanting kids to be healthier. One side has "The Yoshi Challenge Game. Complete 2 of these activities to pass the challenge."
-Challenge a friend to a race. The winner decides what to play next.
-Invent a new game with your Happy Meal toy!
-Have a friend toss different sports balls in the air and catch them like Yoshi would catch fruit.

The next side has the Donkey Kong Fitness Challenge "Complete 3 of these activities to pass the challenge"
-Ride your bike up a hill 5 times
-Throw a ball as far as you can, then run and get it. Try to do this 10 times.
-Do 10 perfect push-ups
-Stand with your feet together, then "power jump" as far as you can. Can you do it 15 times?

Then there is the Ronald Nutrition Challenge. "Complete 3 of these activities to pass the challenge"
-Try a different fruit each day for a week.
-For one day, drink only water when you are thirsty.
-Drink all the milk from your bowl after you finish your cereal.
-Eat at least one vegetable with your dinner each night for a week.

I say McDonald's should complete the Josh Puckett Nutrition Challenge if they are that concerned.
"Complete one of these activities to pass the challenge."
-Stop making the value meals larger over time.
-Close up shop.
