I Must Be Old
I came to the conclusion tonight that my generation, the XY generation if you will (not quite old enough to be X but not into videogames enough to be a Y...) were the last group of kids to be able to be cool without tryingwaytoofuckinghard.
There was a guy at the mall today - a scruffy, bespectacled. slightly greasy nerdy boy. You could see his black boots and black pants peeking out from under his Matrix-style black coat. This in my book is already past looking cool because to me looking truly cool requires a just-thrown-on feeling about it.
The kicker, though, was the pair of fuzzy black bunny ears that the kid was wearing.
What the fuck is that?!? I mean, in terms of tryingwaytoofuckinghard, that even tops the knee-high white socks and fuzzy bedroom slippers the cholo boys were wearing for a season or two.
Jeez...give me way-too-tight black Levi's and a pair of bright white sneakers any day.
