so my journey begins at 11:30 am on friday morning. i wake up to my mom at my brothers house asking me to go to mississippi with her to bring supplies to my family down here. so i agree..even though my brother and i alone polished off a bottle of to-kill-ya the previous night, so of course im one hung over mother fucker. but its family so i pull through it. i get up get ready and im out the door within ten mins. we had to stop in cedar park to pick up some 55 gallon drums to put gas in. so that took forever and we were already running behind schedual to meet a friend of ours in baton rouge at 4 that afternoon. so we finally get on the road. we didnt get into houston untill 4 so we were running very late..we still had another 4 hours to go to baton rouge. well in houston...keep in mind that its 4 pm in houston on labor day weekend...horrid traffic. well we take our exit to get on 610 and a fucking school bus runs us off the road....so ok..we get over that and get the hell out of houston. now keep in mind the whole time we are hauling 2 55gallon barels of gas so we have 100 gallons of gas in the trailor on our truck..basically we are traveling with a fucking bomb.. ok ...so me and my mother strapped these things in with no help from a man.. so on the way the straps kept slipping off and we had to keep pulling over on the side of the interstate to fix them. well the last time we stopped. we were using the phone while we were fixing the straps. i set the phone down on the bumper to free my hands. we got the straps fixed and everything and hopped back in the truck and were on our mary way. well about 2 miles down the road i reach for the phone....its not there...oh shit we left it on the fucking bumper. so we turn around and go back to look for it.. we walked up and down the interstate for about a mile looking for the damn thing. it was nowhere to be found. it was gone. so we head on. the next town we come to has a truck stop so we stop to use the pay phone to call my dad and let him know what is going on. well after an hour of waiting out in the truck gaurding all of our supplies.. my mom comes out and she has a new phone. the truck stop just happend to have a nextel store in it. so back on the road we go. altho we dont have anyones phone numbers...so we are just waiting for people to call us. so we make it to beaumont where there is 2 18 wheelers turned over on the interstate..so we sit and we sit and we sitl...untill finally we found a back road that we could take..well that was mistake. that backroad took us to the nastiest part of vidor texas i could have ever imagined...for those of you who dont know vidor texas is a very rasist town..and even tho im white to the bone..i was still scared...kkk is all over that town. but we needed gas, and there was only one little gas station out there and it was packed with other people getting away from the wreck. well my mother and i hadnt eaten since we left texas 9 hours ago. so we though we would get just a little sandwhich or something from the gas station..they were wiped out from all the people coming through (evacuees and refugees) so there were two little cold choped beef sandwhichs..i grabed those..two granolia bars and a bottle of water. so were still sorta lost out on this back road at 10 at night..two females traveling alone. but we finally made it to louisana..so we only had a few more hours to go. we just had to get to our friends house and sleep off the day and then start over the next day. we got there finally at 2 in the morning. it took us 12 hours to make a 6 hour drive..it doesnt even take 12 hours to drive all the way to mississippi.

but ya we finally got do to my grandparents and it was like a war zone down here...everything is trashed there are cloths in the tops of trees..all the houses along the beach are gone...not damaged...gone..the bridge from ocean springs to biloxi..gone. its horrible...and walking down front beach..you can smell the dead bodies that they are digging out from under the debris..its horrible..people dont know where their family is..people are missing there are hundreds of people not acounted for...but i got alot of pics of this area.. and when i get them developed i will post some of them. god bless all the families out there who are not doing as good as mine. we are some of the few lucky ones that got out of the storm ok. and with very little damage to the house and no injuries or lost lives. my heart goes out to all involved.
