All up I give it an 8.5 (You know, cause
people just check the final score anyway)
But more seriously, it certainly has been an interesting year. I think this year has contained more major changes than the year I moved down here for uni.
I finally left uni, I may not have my degree yet, but I won't be touching another uni course/subject in a long time. I must admit the first exam period after I did felt very weird, everyone was rushing for deadlines and the like, and I felt like I should have been in last second mode too.
Then there was the whole moving house thing. As much as the housemate of infinite wrath was a curse, I think it was a bit of a blessing to be pushed into a higher level of independence. The moving in the space of a week though was a bit unsettling, but seemed to be a sign of a trend lol. I've settled in now, although my lack of Movie triva knowledge does seem to be a bit of a disadvantage when we all get chatting together at this place ^^;;
Then there was changing jobs. That was a total of 3 days between still seeming like I'd be at Officeworks forever and handing in my resignation. I really need to thank all my friends for prodding me out of that rut. The new job is going great guns, and I'm already moving up the ladder to a 3rd section at my work now, if what I've been told to day is to believed. I won't have to hotseat anymore (means I have my own dedicated space at work) and I will always get weekends off \0/ . I also get a reasonable increase in pay per hour. While all that is good, it's just nice to be acknowledged for doing my job well, which is something I've lacked in all my past jobs.
One of the disadvantages was having to work Christmas this year. It was the first year I have not celebrated with family on the day itself. It was sort of made up for though by going down the week before and catching up with my parents, and the fact that it was actually snowing on Christmas day. It may have only been for 20 min, and I doubt any of the flakes made it to the ground, but at the 11th floor of a CBD high rise, there was defiantly snowflakes being blown about (no, it wasn't hail, we had that just before the snow.) The social club at work also did a good job of making it feel festive.
I guess the one thing that I'm both proud of, and still somewhat unsettled by is my increased ability to cope with spontaneity. The past me required lots of time to plan something, even if it was just planning to attend something. I'm not sure if it's pragmatism regarding how much spare time I have, or just the ad hoc way various friends have run things that has rubbed off on me. Either way, it seems to be a good thing, as it makes me feel more flexible socially.
That said though, I still have aspects of myself that I want to work on. I'm hesitant to call them resolutions, as they are concepts I've already toyed with over the past year, but got lower priority to the 3 major ones (Job, House, Manifest) that I had in 2006.
It will be interesting to see if 2007 holds even more :)
