Dear Yuletide Author 2016
Dear Yuletide Author,
Thank you so much in advance! I can’t wait to see what you write! I’ve provided some ideas below, but I’ll be happy with anything you give me, as long as it doesn’t involve something in the dislikes category.
General likes: gen, friendships, found family, plot, character studies, humor, angst, banter, magic, mythology, characters doing amazing things, characters being smart, crossovers (as long as I’m familiar with the other fandom - see my ao3 account and my tumblr). I’m okay with relationships, but I’d prefer if they weren’t the main focus of the story.
General dislikes: explicit sex, rape/non-con, mundane au’s (i.e. coffee shop, high school, etc). Also, I’m not Christian, and would rather not get a Christmas-themed fic.
Humans (any)
Wow, I can’t believe we haven’t had a new series since last Yuletide! Anyway, I love the themes of family and of what it means to be human in this show. So any story focusing on the mother-daughter relationship between Laura and Mattie would be wonderful, as would a story about the Elster family (either while they were growing up and figuring out their abilities and limitations, or while they were on the run). A post-season 1 reunion between the Hawkinses and Elsters would be nice too.
Killjoys (any)
There is pretty much nothing about this show that I don’t love. The worldbuilding, Team Awesome Force, Alvis’ cape, etc. I’m kind of in denial about Pawter, so an AU where she didn’t die but instead had to deal with losing her titles and land and also come to terms with the fact that she committed murder would be cool. Also, I’ve read a bunch of fics from Johnny’s POV about how he and Dutch met, but it would be interesting to see one from Dutch’s. Especially if you touch on what it was like for this woman who had been trained to feel nothing to encounter this man who feels things so deeply and realize that actually she can do it too.
Other ideas: AU where Clara stayed with the team after 2x01; the adventures of Johnny and Clara; Dutch figuring out who she is without negative influences from Khlyen OR positive influences from Johnny; Pree’s backstory; something about the language of the Quad (written or spoken).
MythQuest (any)
It’s highly unlikely that we matched on this one, since I’m pretty sure only about a dozen people ever watched the show. Looks like it’s currently on youtube, though if you want to check it out!
If by some miracle you are planning on writing for this fandom, I’d like a fic where either Alex or Cleo goes into any myth that wasn’t featured already on the show. If you do Prince Ivar, I will love you forever, particularly if Philthy is the one who accidentally touches the computer screen and ends up in the myth. Alternatively, I would also be interested in some sort of conclusion to the cliffhanger at the end of the last episode.
Omar Rayyan - Works (Troubador Tuning His Tuna)
I just want to know what sort of world this man lives in. What kinds of songs does he sing, and what kinds of people does he perform for? Does he have an accompanist with a carp harp? A bass bass?
