FEDARCYK, the Assistant Director-in-Charge of the New York Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”); RAYMOND W. KELLY, the Police Commissioner for the City of New York; CHRISTOPHER PAUL, the Special Agent-in-Charge of the New York Field Office of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security Service (“DSS”); JAMES T. HAYES, JR., Special Agent-in-Charge of the New York Office of Homeland Security Investigation (“HSI”); and BRIAN G. PARR, the Special Agent-in-Charge of the New York Field Office of the United States Secret Service (“USSS”), announced charges against 37 defendants, in 21 separate cases, for their roles in global bank fraud schemes that allegedly used hundreds of false-name bank accounts to steal over $3 million from dozens of U.S. accounts that were compromised by malware attacks.

Computer hackers or cyber thieves arrested in Britain on suspicion of stealing millions of pounds from bank accounts are the immigrants from Ukraine, Latvia, Georgia, Belarus and Estonia, say reports.
According to reports all the detained 20 people are immigrants from the former Soviet Union who are now residents of the UK. The detainees are suspected of fraud, resulting in the theft of millions of pounds from the accounts of depositors of the UK’s largest banks.

Authorities in Ukraine this week detained five individuals believed to be the masterminds behind sophisticated cyber thefts that siphoned $70 million - out of an attempted $220 million - from hundreds of U.S.-based small to mid-sized businesses over the last 18 months, the FBI said Friday.
…The FBI said five individuals detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on Sept. 30 were members of a gang responsible for creating specialized versions of the password-stealing ZeuS banking Trojan and deploying the malware in e-mails targeted at small to mid-sized businesses…
