WARRENTON, Ore. - A U.S. Coast Guard crew on Saturday rescued a man suffering from an apparent heart attack aboard a vessel more than 35 miles west of the Columbia River entrance.
The helicopter crew was in the middle of training when they were called to the medical emergency around 10:40 a.m., according to Chief Petty Officer David Mosley.
The crew lifted the man out of the boat and brought him back to the Astoria air station. Medics took him to an Astoria hospital.
“This was a quick but challenging rescue operation due to limited space on board the boat,” said Lt. Rob McCabe, the helicopter pilot.
The man’s name was not immediately released.
