In which I disagree with Kurt Vonnegut

Someone on my list (can't remember who, dammit) linked to a set of quotes by the veteran authour, and though the vast majority are truly gems of the art I found myself disagreeing with one. Apparently Vonnegut said, "[t]he only difference between Bush [43] and Hitler is that Hitler was elected." I don't agree; there's at least one other huge difference between the two leaders.

Bush was the King Log version; Hitler was the King Stork version.

-- Steve does agree that both leaders appeal to the same demographics, and does view the Tea Party's support to be akin to the support garnered by the NSDAP in the Weimar Republic's waning days. Watch for modern Brownshirts... they're coming, unless the US handles this better than they did.
