Midnight Nude Pool Party (open)

Apr 03, 2007 13:35

Yesterday, Antoine used the Send All function on the phone to send this message to all voicemail numbers in the Hotel:

"This is Antoine Laconte, your host tomorrow night at the Midnight Nude Pool Party! See you by the pool for dancing, swimming, and entertaining conversation at midnight sharp. Remember, no clothing allowed beyond the entrance." ( Read more... )

It was fascinating, that something that was so common in his own world would be myth and legend in this, as if they had existed, but had faded over time.

He laughed softly "We do live forever, you could say, unless we are killed or choose on our own to go on to the Halls of Mandos. But we do not play tricks on humans. Not that I have heard of."

He did wonder about Antoine's other words though. How could it be profitably to have rare and very pleasing features?

Oh...

Voronwé's eyes widened slightly. He had heard of such things as a woman offering her company or even her body in return for gold. But he had never himself encountered such a person and didn't think there were any among Elves. He could be wrong of course. He wasn't entirely sure how to react to this new realisation, but Antoine seemed very comfortable about it even if he hadn't stated it clearly as such. It could be something entirely different, even if he couldn't think of anything else. Could he perhaps be entertaining with songs and dance as a bard? Once more Voronwë became very aware of Antoine's naked form, and that of the others in the room. Had he been entirely wrong about the nature of this gathering?

"I understand." He would not let it influence his perception though. It could be a very respectable profession in this world, and Voronwé rarely judged anybody other than by their behaviour towards him and their intelligence. He was however not quite sure what to say to it.

"Is it common, in your world, to earn a living in such a manner?" He asked curiously.

Antoine watched understanding flit through Voronwe's eyes. It was similar to the realization that dawned when Antoine propositioned a person and they realized they'd have to pay for the evening to continue. Here in the Hotel, all needs were met and there was very little in the way of unique goods for barter, so Antoine stopped charging. He'd always been selective.

"Not very common," Antoine said slowly. "Most major cities have a district. I'm a free lancer though." He smiled warmly. "This situation here in the Hotel ... well, we make our rules as we go along."

"Aha. Free lancer? That expression is not familiar to me." The thought of a warrior came to Voronwé again, but it made little sense.

"And what are the rules in the Hotel?" He wondered if he had broken any. He had not been informed of any house rules, even if it was common both in houses with many visitors and in Inn's, as this seemed to be, to have such.

"Freelance means I work for myself. No ... management."

He took a sip of champagne. "What rules would you like? You make your own rules. I made the rule that everyone must be nude at this party." He smirked.

Voronwé nodded, now understanding the phrase, even if it still made little sense to him. Antoine's next words had him still though. The smirk told him, Antoine was not insulted that Voronwé had broken that rule by coming here and staying, clothed. It also told him, that Antoine most likely was expecting him to perhaps follow the rule after all.

"Please forgive me." He said, inclinging his head slightly "I did not wish to disregard your rules. I will retire from your company for the night then. Perhaps, if you are so inclined, we could dine together tomorrow and we can continue this conversation?"

"No harm, no foul," Antoine said quickly.

He felt a bit as though he'd stepped on a kitten. Voronwe couldn't be that innocent. Could he? And Antoine was hoping he'd decide to stay and reveal more of that pale smooth skin.

Ah well.

"Meet you in the banquet hall at 7 then?" Antoine said with a cordial smile.

Voronwé smiled, glad Antoine hadn't taken offence.

"Yes." He nodded lightly "I am looking forward to speak with you again, Antoine. I wish you continued enjoyment of the evening and bid you good night." Still smiling, Voronwé bowed lightly with a hand over his heart.

"Thank you and you as well," Antoine said softly. He imitated Voronwe's slight inclination, placing his hand over his heart.

He already looked forward to tomorrow's evening meal.

And now, he'd better check on Adrian and see what mischief he'd managed to get up to with Roger.

"Thank you." Voronwé said, then without looking further at the room and those people in it, he turned and made his way back to his room. Walking at a sedate pace, he thought about the different things and people he'd encountered in this house, purposefully keeping his mind away from the tasks and his family, the place was keeping him from.

It would be good to take a meal in company, even if the circumstances in which he'd met the man were slightly odd. Antoine had been very pleasant to converse with and Voronwé was looking forward to the next evening. He would see if he could find something to draw on and with, in order to show Antoine his home. That would keep him busy for the rest of the night since he wasn't tired yet.
