WOO HOO! I got to meet
katcolorado and
sunneschii! We had an absolutely lovely afternoon yesterday down by the lake, drinking latte machiattos and visiting. Kat arranged it, and was even nice enough to agree to meet me at the tram stop I knew, so I didn't get lost or anything. I was so happy to come around the corner down the hill and see the two of them sitting there! I knew them immediately, and felt the warmth of friendship right away. They were both so kind and made me feel very welcomed, and as is often the case with BookCrossing friends -- I didn't feel awkward at all! Imagine going halfway around the world and meeting people you've never met before in your life, but feeling as if you know them already. . . .yes, that's how it was. And they were both so gracious and spoke English the whole time for me!
They are exactly as I pictured them (which is not always the case!) -- Kat is gracious and friendly (and so tiny you'd never know she had twins!), and Sunne is exactly what her name means -- "sunshine" -- she's bubbly and cheery, and made me smile. Her strawberry-blonde hair matches her personality, I think -- sweet! I felt like I had an afternoon with old friends instead of two people I'd never met before.
Kat even stopped a very nice and friendly man to take pictures of us. He was so pleasant and accomodating, and took several from both her camera and Sunne's. Pics are posted on both of their journals -- I snuck a peak last night!
nice-cup-of-tea wasn't feeling well, so I hope I get to see her tonight or later in the week. I've brought a
book for her book group (she had it listed as the November book), and am having a hard time finishing it. I think I'll be fine handing it off "undone"!
I got to speak with silentmiaouw this afternoon -- oh, the accents my friends have! She sounds like an exotic Bond girl or something! And we're hoping to connect this week, too, but she's very busy with work and a colleague had the nerve to get married. . . .
Anyway, that's Tuesday afternoon for you. I've received two emails from friends, asking why I'm not in the alps :) I'm just relaxing and enjoying myself while Unk works, so no yodelling or alp-climbing for me this trip. Hope you're not too disappointed! Tonight I get to see them again at their OBCZ, and maybe some other Swiss BookCrossers too. I'm looking forward to it!
