Book List: 2011

Jan 03, 2011 12:05

I've finished my first book of the year, which means it's time to post the list, such as it is. Last year's number was woefully low, and I intend to go back to more reading this year. Less TV, less online time, and more books I say! The first book on the list is for the readthenewberys group. You're still welcome to join us!

It's so easy to sit in front of the computer for hours, doing nothing! (well, that's what I do - you might actually be doing something useful)

Anyway, I'm going to go back to my former list length. Or at least more than last year!

LOL! It's insidious, isn't it?

I like the tags at LibraryThing better than the shelves at Goodreads, but when I realized they're the same and LT would only let me register 25 books a year for free, I pretty much dropped LT. Which reminds me; I should delete my account there.

It was the forums that sort of got me hooked on BC but when they turned ugly, it turned my stomach. I rarely go back there now (although I did just the other night, and I have to admit it made me laugh), but I register any books that are register-able there, too. And I have a ton to release that I will do with BCIDs. But what BC isn't -- really -- is a place to record (and share) book reviews. That's why I like GR so much -- I can review any book (mine, the library's, or a friend's), and also see other's reviews of the same book and discuss. It's like a 24/7 book club :)

Oh, and I use the GR app too :) It's not perfect, but I like having it when I'm mobile and want to see what I thought about this or that book.
