People keep saying that, about the buttons being close, but it's a tiny little box you'd have to get the cursor into - it's not like a link or a button which you could click on carelessly. I find check boxes ever so fiddly to get the cursor into deliberately, so I'm pretty sure I would never do it accidentally! :-)

That's a good point and makes me feel better -- those boxes just seem perilously close to the "post comment" button!

check *just* how close the checkboxes are to the 'Post comment' button! :o

The checkboxes are disabled for me - phew - but I guess that's because my journal is anyway set to 'Friends only' by default - that is, until LJ decides to become more of FB and switch things around every other day.

I'm wondering whether you want to change your journal to a default friends only and then for the posts you are making that you want to be public, you can set those individually while posting...

Might help you stop freaking out about a possible accidental hit on the checkboxes.

maybe it isn't a solution after all...so I went to check. And yes, you need to ignore me.

If you set the journal to a default 'friends only' you can't make *any* post public - the 'everyone' option is disabled.
