DwtS: Final 4

I'm watching live, so no TiVo to re-wind if it gets bad or shocking :)

Brooke and Derek dance first. They start out a little frenetic, but there just isn't time to get into their groove. When Derek jumps over her head and messes up her hair, that's the end. Up until that time, it was a little wobbly, but passable. At that point, she actually starts messing up steps. Also, they are not wearing jive clothes. He's in a quasi zoot-suit, which might have cut it, but she's wearing mambo or samba clothes. Someone put them out of their misery! They get their lowest scores yet.

Julianne is back from surgery to dance a paso doble with Cody. They look fabulous, but as if they're going to jive. They look like the cutest couple on a USO tour. It's the oddest look, and even odder musical choice. I liked the dance OK, although their costumes totally messed with my brain and just plain weren't paso-y.

Then Kym and Warren are up to dance hmm ... pretty bad that it's only one commercial away and I can't even remember what they danced. Well, guess that tells you how memorable it was. Here's what I remember: it was high energy and very entertaining, but not much there, there. He actually looked at her boobs durng the lean-over-rolly-shoulders thing (oh! does that mean that was a mambo?), and he's lost a LOT of weight. That's it.

Last up in round 1 are Lance and Lacey, dancing a mambo. It's the best dance of the night, and fabulous. He's most noticeably impressive in side-by-side stuff, where he is right on with Lacey in synch (ha! as it were) It's a great dance, and for once I like her hair, his hair, their clothes, everything. And they get their first 10 of the season, I think.

Len visits each couple to work on one problem area (Lance's pigeon toes, Cody's wooden hips, etc.), and ends with Warren showing him how to do what he did in his solo last week! LOL

Oh DEAR! Now we're resorting to filler on competition night, too?! Because the dances in round 2 are some of the new ones this season (salsa, and I can't remember what else), they have pros come to show us what it should look like.

What the? Why is Brooke wearing pants (albeit covered entirely in fringe) for the salsa? I have to say though, that her pants look better than any other pants any girl has ever worn on this show before ... although her underwear or the doublestick tape is showing in the back. I'm impressed with her recovery from that mess of a first dance. It's a much better dance, and she's definitely more comfortable, but it's not 10 material, I gotta say that. Although the judges seem to love it. Maybe there will be 10s. Shock! 10 from Len; 9s from Carrie Ann and Bruno.

Cody and Julianne are also dancing salsa. Her outfit is WAY more salsa-y. This is pretty good, but he's just not totally confident. He lost her hand once or twice, and keeps forgetting to smile. The lift was also awkward. Whoa. I was afraid she'd end up on her head at the end! Good, but I'd give them 3 solid 7s.

Filler, part deux: jitterbug, which is way more fun to watch :) yikes. I take that back a bit. The guy is throwing -- literally throwing her all over. He is clearly REALLY excited to be on DwtS! She actually looks a little scared of him!

Warren and Kym get to dance the jitterbug first, and they're kitted out in casino clothes. SO cute! This is a great dance for them! He really is surprisingly light of foot! This is really cute -- maybe a teeny bit slow for a jitterbug, but great. He's had most of the steps right on, his lifts are smooth and comfortable to watch, it had a lot more content than their other dance, and he smiled the whole time. Bring on some oxygen for the big boy!

I think they probably saved the best for last with Lance and Lacey jitterbugging. He's wearing a sailor suit, in honor of his grandfather, who is there, and he calls him "grandaddy", just like our family! awwww .... From a programming perspective, they often save the best for last, and I think I'm right. Now THIS is a jitterbug! uh .... one of them just lost a shoe! Oh MY! It was Lance, andlike a real pro, he's still going. He is now officially my favorite! I like him even more than Brooke tonight! Well done. Seriously, well done.

Don't laugh, but I'm totally calling in for L&L and B&D.

The filler on the results show tomorrow night might actually be stuff we're interested in watching. Julianne is singing, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Balast will be dancing, Aretha Franklin will be there, and something else that sounded interesting to me :)

Predictie McLeaverson is conflicted, and not sure who the fans will send home. I think it would be best and most fair if Warren goes home, but am truly not sure what the fans will do. If it were based solely on dancing, Lance and Brooke will return. Cody's good, but again, if it's based on dancing, he won't win. If it's based on cute, it's a tie between him and Warren.
