*"vomit" icon for Cloris
Half of the women are taking costume cues from Scary Spice's Paso outfit last year. They look pretty good, but no one will look as amazing as Mel B. did in that outfit. No one. Also, fair warning: the judges act like this is week 4 or 5. Not fair, IMO. Oh, and EVERY "pro" commented on the amount of time they had to learn the dance. Evidently, they don't understand the fact that EVERYONE had the same amount of time. That would only be relevant if some had that time and some had more.
Samantha said Tom "reamed" Alec for his singing (Toni Braxton asked him to sing, so he could be out of his comfort zone and in hers). Um, Samantha -- go look that word up. He teased him. He poked fun at him. He pretend-gave him a "2". But he didn't, in the Urban Dictionary or Merriam-Webster version, "ream" him.
After watching the first 2 (Toni Braxtona and Brooke Burke), I could have just turned off the tv. They were both excellent. Brooke could have been a tiny bit more stomp-y, but still ... pretty impressive. And I loved her Spanish señorita dress.
Rocco makes me want to go EAT! He compared the rumba to a risotto. And I bet he convinced half of the women in America to vote for him. Oh Cute! He's in an apron, over what looks like black pants and shirt, but when he takes the apron off, it looks like he's in silky pajamas, and Karina is in a nightgown-y dress. It's working. He's still a little stiff, but ... pretty good. Wow. I don't know what dance the judges watched. They were WAY too hard on him. He wasn't fabulous, but from what I've seen so far, he's Most Improved Player. They were too mean for week 2. Honest, sure, but in general, they are much more forgiving in week 2 than this.
This week, Lance and Lacey just said upfront that they aren't going to do a traditional dance. Take that, judges! (of course they did say it was their job to entertain us ...) What is Lacey's deal with colored pieces of hair? And can I say how much I hate "I Kissed a Girl" as a song choice (whoever made it) for a Paso? ick-poo. Their dance is pretty impressive, though. And ironic that they kissed at the end (followed by Lance pulling cherry chapstick out of his pocket). LOL oh dear -- Len is NOT happy!
Oh brother. Tom announced before the commercial that Kim's mambo was one of the most-watched clips on the Internet last week. Who wears that much makeup in real life? She's a pretty girl without it. The trowel-applied makeup that she wears in everyday life is distracting. She needs to learn how to move her hips. Yawn. LOL, Len! He tells her "you've got the gear in the rear" ... hee hee hee!
Tom Bergeron is possibly one of the best off-the-cuff hosts ever. That's all I'm saying.
Ok, so Misty-May is trying really hard, and has definitely improved but she dances like ... a boy. I hate to say it because I can see how hard she's trying, but she just can't be graceful. It's not in her, I fear. She also needs an impressive push-up bra and "cutlets". Bruno's right -- it's a finesse issue.
Maurice: "it's really hard to have an emotional connection with Cheryl when all I can think about is what my hips are supposed to be doing." His "hands out" position is awkward, but he's going well, like the men before him cut out of the same athletic cloth: Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice ... Nice move at the end, too. Love strong men!
oh gag. Cloris is up next. LOL #1: their music is "Bolero"! LOL #2: my TiVo blacked out on part of their dance. What a relief. She's wearing schoolmarm shoes, and Corky is doing all the work, including holding her upright when she loses her balance. Painful. I'm going to have to phone in tonight, if for no other reason than to not have to watch her again. Is it just me, or is Corky most likely Dustin Hoffman's younger, Latino brother?
Yes, Susan Lucci, you should rip open Tony's shirt, because that's the only thing helping your dance. Your tentative, wooden, immobile hips and push-up bra certainly aren't cutting it. (although maybe she could give Misty-May push-up tips) *yawn*
Here come Warren and Kim, in Matrix-wear. Whoa! He's really keeping up with her footwork. And Len won't (but I did) like that Matrix bullet-dodging move. Whoops! He smiled (they did a big thing about that in the opener). This is surprisingly good! Um. What'd he do to her at the end? It was great up until that. Not sure what happened (Kym says it was a pleather problem; Warren says it's one too many Xs. And then Samantha lets out a most unladylike guffaw) Oh! And he's wearing guyliner!
Oh! I forgot to mention that Julianne was Christina Aguilera in their cha-cha last week. Oh dear. I don't like this song either. It's that stupid "bleeding heart" song,
wandererjen. Costume choice on Julianne is odd. The center drape keeps getting stuck in between her legs. Cody found some hips, although they're not fluid. They were pretty entertaining, actually. Not bad, and a good way to end the night. Carianne is right -- she said it was an age-appropriate rumba, and I didn't think of it until she said so, but she's right. More than that would have been awkward and weird. It was actually really lovely to watch.
Now I need to hit "post" and get the phone numbers for Brooke and Rocco (well, anyone but Cloris, really) so I can call. I cannot watch Cloris another week!
