Cutie at the P.O. Originally uploaded by
Antof9. I was at the P.O. today, mailing a bunch of packages, and there were a lot of children being ... let's call it "uncooperative"*. One little sweetheart, in particular, was screaming through clenched teeth (seriously, it takes talent!): I. Need. To. Tell. You. Something. Right. Now! It was simultaneously horrifying and hilarious.
When I got up to the counter, one of my favorite postal ladies and I rolled our eyes at each other, as she had just finished waiting on the demanding girl's mom.
me: ... and people ask why we don't have kids
she: yeah, really!
me: I just tell 'em 'free birth control at the post office, once a week'
she: BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
The boy in the picture (whose mom called him "Chance") was absolutely precious. He didn't harm a flea or make a peep, but she kept calling him over and over and over. He never even acknowledged her. The best thing, though -- he had a duck-billed umbrella! Click on the picture to see the bigger version.
*please note: I am fully aware that perfectly well-behaved children often choose public places to perform. This is in no way a commentary on anything other than the entertainment provided at the p.o. today, and how much Chance made me smile :)
