Overall, the girls are singing the guys under the table.
Sanjaya -- did he get a perm?!
Simon is wearing a plain old, 3-to-a-pack t-shirt!
Poor Brandon came out and forgot his words! The poor baby! He's one of my favorite guys, and I feel just awful for him.
So far, I'm liking Diana's interactions with the competitors. And then there was Melinda. My least favorite performance of hers yet. Bring back Funny Valentine. And Paula is CRYING! And then Melinda puts us in her pocket. She's never heard anything like that (applause) for her before, she said. awwwww I'm glad Simon called it for what it was -- a boring song. Even though he said she did a great job with it :)
I wish Chris hadn't gotten his hair cut. It looked so much better longer. Why am I focused on hair? I just saw a girl in the audience with Gina's hair! Whoa! Chris without glasses? It ain't him! I keep wanting him to burst out into a Meatloaf song. I'm sorry, but I do. He's one of my faves, but I do not like this arrangement. It's too fast for the emotion he's trying to convey. Waaahhhh I'm with Randy -- too much Coldplay, not enough Endless Love.
oh good! Gina's next! Oh LOL! You must "pronunciate"?! hee hee hee! OK -- I know I've been a big Gina fan from the beginning, but in my opinion, that was the performance of the night so far. And that has to be one of the only Diana Ross songs I don't know :) Randy thought it was "boring"?! Wow. He didn't hear the same performance I did.
And Diana asks Sanjaya, "can you dance?" and I want to answer, "like a white guy without rhythm." I love this song -- I hope he pulls it off. But I don't think so. And he's gone flat. Forwarding the TiVo. Hey! The backup singers sound fab! His nervous smile makes me have to look away. This is over his head. Let this darling boy off the stage. Paula! He was NOT on pitch! Haley singing about her fiance will never meet the emotion of Marvin Gaye's death. And forwarding again. Totally underwhelmed. Wow. I wasn't a fan before, but that was ... disappointing. Sabrina should have been there tonight.
Unlike the Old Navy maternity dress commercials, I love the JLoHew Hanes commercial!
Will I be forwarding through Phil too? I'm not quite a fan yet. Let's see. hmm ... it's one of his better performances, IMO, but he's still not really making me love him. And I haven't liked a single song ending yet -- I realize that's determined by the show, but they're icky.
oooh! I love the Lakisha song! And I love that Diana asked her what her mother calls her! How sweet :) Oh! My vote is mike stand! I liked her hair better in rehearsal than the performance. oh crap. I'm on hair again! hmmm ... she's got pipes, but I like Melinda and Gina better still. I also don't like her diction. And she should have taken a "moment" at the end. She just dropped the song on the floor. That song didn't knock my socks off. It was great, but my socks are still on. Maybe because I expect more from her?
These viewer questions are turning me off. This could be an hour show if they left out all this filler.
hmmm ... I've been in Blake's camp since the beginning, but this is not his best, and the first I ever remember him having pitch problems. It must be so hard to totally re-write an arrangement of such a well-known song. I give him credit for that, but this didn't do it for me. And he looks like he knows it at the end, too.
I want Stephanie to do well, but she's still the next Destiny's Child voice. I'd like to hear her do something unique, but I fear she'll just sound like Beyonce II. Oh! And she's gone flat, too! It doesn't look like they're using in-ears, but you don't see monitors on the floor either. Hmmmm She's lovely and has a lovely voice, but for me, there's nothing special about her. And the stylist who chose that dress should be shot.
How much do I love Diana Ross for saying to Chris not to be nervous, because she's not any different from him except she's older? I've always been a bit of a fan, but this night put me over the top. I really, really like her! So we have Beyonce II in Stephanie, and Justin II in Chris. I like him, though :) ... and he followed her advice by working the crowd, didn't he?
Oh yay! Here comes Jordin! Strong start -- better than most people tonight. I just love her so much :) This is a different song for her, and a good choice, I think. it's good to hear her do a different style. I like it. I like it a lot! She has really good control of her voice. There were a couple times there she could have lost it, but powered through. Nicely done. My fave of the night, I think.
