I will definitely be going. I'm considering skipping the third day since most of the best bands will be on Friday and Saturday, but I will be there.
I've been listening to all three of Portal's albums pretty much on repeat for the last few days, and while Seepia is different I can still barely explain how. It has a very different sound -- maybe it's all at once more metal and riffy yet even crazier with the arpeggio bukkakestorm and splattercrashing blastbeats Idon'tfuckingknow. I love everything they've done, though, and I can't wait to see them live.
Well I hear there is a ton of merch for bands that aren't actually playing, too. Hard to find records and such.
I'd hit the merch tables early for the Gorguts shirt at least. They'll sell out fast, I think, esp if you are trying to get a medium. I have the luxury of being able to purchase any size that is available, since I just hack them up and put them back together.
Of course that means that I often don't wear a shirt for three months after I've bought it because I haven't gotten around to sewing it.
I'll have to see what there is to see, then. But I am definitely going to be after a Gorguts shirt, and yeah, medium is my preference. I can wear large, of course, but it doesn't fit as nicely. And I don't think I'd look as cute in cut-up T-shirts stitched back together.
I'm sure there'll be alllll kinds of stuff to buy there, but we'll see what kind of position I'm in to do more than feed myself and pick up a few extra things. If I can this job at the census bureau that might put me at a pretty good advantage...
You know, Eric keeps saying th at whenever the merch guys are out of M's and I offer to sew up a large for him. I think you both need to just embrace your inner gay man.
Yeah, my main priorities are on the first two days (and the pre-fest), but I want to see Entombed, for sure, and I guess I'll check out Eyehategod since my friends all seem to like them so much. Also Captain Cleanoff is going to be fun as hell. I will be in the pit doing the Bus Stop. We plan to be doing this dance during Watain as well, both Erics and I.
But yes I will most certainly be at the merch tables for 16 and Converge. Or possibly just head across the street to the bar that the Erics always go to, where the bartender tends to give them whiskey for free.
Perhaps I'll tag along for one of those departures, if I am in fact there for the third day. I wouldn't mind seeing Entombed, but I wish it was Dismember instead. That I would not miss.
You realize that Destroyer 666 and Bolt Thrower played at MDF 2009, yeah? I've seen Destroyer 666 since then, but I guess I'm going to have to fly to Europe to see Bolt Thrower.
I'm actually incredibly excited about Melechesh, as well. That's another one I'll be doing the Bus Stop to.
So I actually really don't like Averse Sefira very much, but my best friend's boyfriend Jimmy works with a member of the band. He asked me when I was visiting them down in Austin if there were any local black metal bands he should check out, and I was like, "Well Averse Sefira's from here." and he was like, "Holy shit, you've heard of them? I work with the guitarist, really nice guy!"
Heheh.
Er, and Eric has actually seen Cryptopsy with Lord Worm on vocals play None So Vile from beginning to end. Probably will not ever happen again. :(
I was lucky enough to see Cryptopsy with Lord Worm opening for Suffocation several years ago in San Francisco, but it wasn't None So Vile from beginning to end.
Oh, heheh, and I am apparently going to see Sepultura this summer. Though obviously not from 1990. Still, it'll be hilarious if nothing else. Will also be seeing Twisted Sister, Kiss, and Gwar. Along with Immortal, Dark Funeral, Ulver, Decapitated, Behemoth, Secrets of the Moon... etc.
Plus it's France, so there's a wine garden. Which is awesome for me, as I can't drink beer.
I am going to see them in May. And so are you, if you get your shit together.
BTW, have decided that I find Seepia "challenging", meaning that I don't really like it very much but think I should or I'm not cool.

Let me see... my MDF IX dream bill:
Morbid Angel
Dismember
Gorguts
Portal
Teitanblood
Dead Congregation
Ulcerate
Ignivomous
Suffocation
Immolation
Bolt Thrower
Deströyer 666
Averse Sefira (if Watain can come, why not?)
Intestine Baalism
Funebrarum
Sepultura via time machine from 1990.
Cryptopsy if they're only allowed to play None So Vile in its entirety and then silently leave the stage.
