Dad left me a voicemail on my cell phone this morning that he had had an afternoon plan with mom but that she had something come up, and he already had the car downtown, so he wanted to take me out to lunch instead. I called him back and said sure! So after I got out of class (three hours of BRAAAAAINS), I called him to let him know I was out. So he picked me up, and I started asking like where are we going and why not eat closer to the office? We drove around downtown a little, and then got on the freeway...
TO DAVE & BUSTER'S FOR A SURPRISE GOING AWAY PARTY FOR ME. I was floored and just bouncing with happiness. Sure, it was people from the office, and sure, they were probably there more because it was a free lunch out of the office, but who cares, it was a surprise party at one of my favorite places :D I happened to be wearing my NIN concert T-shirt (so I wouldn't get BRAAAAAAAAAINS on a nicer work shirt), and Vicky asked me about the show where I got it (last Friday!) I happened to say "There's no way it could get any better," when Dad interrupted me and said, "yes it can."
CAUSE IN WALKED TONY AND MY MOM. I think that was the damned bestestest part of it all.
So my dad gave a little speech about how happy he was to have me work with him and how it was a great 3.5 years and he was so proud to witness everything that happened in that time (I got married, we bought a house, I went back to school, I got into grad school) and he's very happy for me. I choked up a little O:-)
So we had a great lunch and then I got to play the brand-new Pump it Up machine :D (which provides a calories burned indicator at the end, neat!) And then Dad and Tony played it for a while, and Mom tried it out, and then Tony played with me. I'm not really sure what happened to the other people from the office, some may have stayed to play a few video games? I don't care :D I care that my parents and I played shooting hoops for tickets and Tony and I played this Aliens-themed game that was WAY more fun than it should have been, and it was just such an amazing time.
And that my dad had this planned since early July.
I seriously, I was bouncing and grinning and lightly punching Tony and my dad (about the highest level of my expression of excitement), and it was just the greatest thing.
And then we came home and our front stoop is rebuilt and looks really good (though currently unpainted). I'll post pictures later.
In short, I am very very very very very very happy. And when I regain my energy (I played several rounds of PiU barefoot :D), I'll... I don't know, study more BRAAAAAAAINS or something.
EEEEEE :D
good times
