Starting a new beer tonight! I'm making a pilsner!
Ingredients:
Malt:
8 lbs Alexander's pale bulk malk extract
Boiling Hops:
1 oz Saaz hops
1/2 oz Tettnang hops
Finishing Hops:
1/2 oz Tettnang hops
Yeast:
Munich Lager yeast (liquid, no start)
Cooking notes:
Boiled the water, added the malt extract and boiling hops. At 40 minutes, added irish moss for clarity. At 55 minutes, added finishing hops. Boil was ended at 60 minutes. Sealed off the beer and am waiting for it to cool overnight, then adding the yeast. Since this is a lager yeast, I'm going to be keeping it in the garage, which maintances a consistant temp of about 45 to 50 degrees.
I did not buy enough hops. I wanted more then 2 oz, but I misread the packages. Oh well. The taste test shows that it's pretty hoppy, so I don't think it will be too big of a problem.
