Bathroom update.

Remodeling of the bathroom continues, slower than I'd hoped. I didn't expect to have to replace the floor, and I'd hoped that I wouldn't have to replace/rebuild as much of the plumbing as did. Today I put the floor tile down, so I can't set foot inside until tomorrow, when I can do the grout, and then wait again. The tile is something new for me. We saw the sample, and both really liked it. Of course, it is expensive, but the floor isn't really that big. None in stock so we placed an order. When we get it home, it turns out that it is glass, not ceramic, (or like I thought, porcelain). The glass (glued to a fiberglass mesh backer) is a major PITA to cut. Oh, and it is Metric tile. The mosaic squares are about 3/4, not 1 inch, and the sheet is about 13 inches square, not 12, so we have way more than we need. On the plus side, even without grout, it looks awesome. It is a white , cream, and light grey random mosaic, and the surface is iridescent, to give hints of pretty much any other color you can imagine where the light shines on it. It seems so far to be the perfect accent for the rest of the fixtures, which are bright white. I hope it looks as good when it is grouted.

The future holds a lot of molding work, toilet install, new light fixtures, hardware, and painting of walls, doors, and closet.
