[Chuckle. Atsuki shrugs in his seat-] Something like that. I thought it might be in my best interests to befriend some birds.

[i_speak_softly]

[Don stands by the bench, arms crossed, watching the feeding frenzy.] Are you studying ornithology?

[antisilent]

Not so much as avian sociology, unless that happens to fall under the study too. [That's... only mildly sarcastic. It's certainly not biting sarcasm either]

[i_speak_softly]

Interesting subject. [He props one foot on the end of the bench, rests his arms on his knee, and gazes intently at the swarming birds.] ... What are you watching for?

[antisilent]

I'm listening, mostly. [A beat before-] Would you believe I'm actually hoping to find one with a bell tied to it's leg?

[i_speak_softly]

[Okay. Wasn't expecting that.] A particular bird? Or are you just hoping that somewhere in Luceti, there happens to be a bird with a bell on its leg?

[antisilent]

A bit of both, honestly. [...Heh heh]

[i_speak_softly]

And what would you do with such a bird, if you found it?

[antisilent]

[He considers that for a moment; how best to answer that... and then settles on something close to the truth] Take the bell to prove myself to a friend.

[i_speak_softly]

Catching birds isn't easy.

[antisilent]

I'm starting to learn that. [More seed] That's why I'm using this method.

[i_speak_softly]

[He watches the birds eating the seed.] They'll all fly away when you grab at them.

Do you want help, or is this something you have to do yourself?

[antisilent]

It's my hope that I can make friends with them enough that grabbing won't be necessary. [He turns to the birds more directly and-] Right guys?

[When he does that one or three of the birds assembled looks up briefly and seems to nod or something. After that though, he turns back to the turtle-] And I'm afraid so. Test of skill, you know.

[i_speak_softly]

[Astonished. He saw those birds nod.] You're an animal-talker?

[antisilent]

I just like talking in general. [He shrugs before...] And here, I've noticed that all the animals seem to talk and they seem to understand when we talk to them.
