Pirate ship and crew
Hey all, I'm researching about pirates, and I'd appreciate any help I can get. Pirate cliches from movies and books aren't much to go with.
1) How big is a pirate ship normally? How many crews on board, how many cabins/rooms, etc.
2) What are the ranks on the ship and what their roles are? I know they sort of differ in every ship, but if there's a general list I can look at it would be great.
3) What, exactly, do they do with their plunder? Sell them and use the money to enjoy life?
4) Eyepatches, what are they for? A friend told me that eyepatches aren't just for show or to cover eye wounds, but has some kind of practical purpose. Is it true?
