Hi all. ^^ Total newbie here - just found this community and wanted to say 'hello' before I get buried beneath schoolwork again. THANK YOU FOR THIS. It eases my soul to know there is a community full of people who not only recognize the... problems... with the Eragon books, but put forth their ideas and arguments clearly and concisely. I commend you all because if I ever met Paolini I personally would attempt to decapitate him with a spoon. I started out as a fan of the first book, but by the time of the second, the rip-offs and Gary-Stu-ness were all too clear. I saw the earlier post that was an "April Fool's" joke - the reason so many people believed it, I think, is because it's LIKE SOMETHING HE WOULD DO. He's trying to create a universe, like Tolkien, but it's like a flobberworm trying to build a rocket. Excuse the HP lingo. >.< Plus Eragon spent several days staring at a tree stump. Which, you know, is just... odd.
One thing I have noticed is that - while it may be a coincidence - Paolini's maps bear a few similarities to Middle Earth? Like the "Isenstar" about where one would fine Isengard? Am I being too picky??
So pardon the intrusion - you have my utter respect, lol - and now I must go let schoolwork eat me again. ^^
