Dragons! continued

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned His Majesty's Dragon, Book 1 of the Temeraire series, by Naomi Novik. I bought it a day later, and I finished it over a week ago. After a brief email discussion with quenbolyn concerning the similarities and differences between HMD and Eragon, I sat down to write an entry about it. After all, the two books follow the same premise (hero finds dragon egg and fights evil empire) but that's where most similarities cease. And Paolini says that most fantasy is derivative? But I digress. I was saying, I sat down to write the essay...

...and I haven't finished yet. Or started. So I'm lazy, sue me. I'll post something tomorrow, although now that I've promised tomorrow, count on Wednesday. We'll see. Sorry.

To hold you over, callisto_chan posted some intriguing thoughts and questions about Galbatorix and the other "villains" of Inheritance over at the chris_paolini group. Check it out.

Also, I decided to read Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher by Bruce Coville, just to see where Paolini got inspired. Did anyone else find this book boring?
