layton wiki this way. Affiliation: Let’s say...Team Rocket. Although he won’t like it one bit.
Personality:
There’s no question of Clive’s astounding intellect. In fact, he turns out to be the villain within the villain, duping even the evil mastermind behind the time travel project in Layton’s third adventure, the Unwound Future. Dedicating his life to revenge, Clive had all the time in the world to concoct a scheme so convoluted that it even puzzled the great Professor Layton; so, naturally, one can only assume that he’s not only a brilliant young man, but also patient and crafty. The only flaw in his genius is that he shows signs of being quite insane, for a lack of a better term. His logic is skewed by hatred and single-minded vengeance: for example, in order to cure London of its evil and corruption, he planned to level it completely-that is, destroy the city and everyone in it. As someone who detests violence against the innocent, this seems outlandish and contradictory. Still, Clive believed he was in the right, and that everyone would benefit from his actions.
He’s a leader, able to maintain the loyalty of even Dimitri’s goons, likely through the use of his massive inheritance and promises for the future. His acting skills and ability to lie effortlessly are also unparalleled, as he is able to fool the professor and his apprentice into thinking that he’s an older version of Luke. The ultimate focus of his plans, even past revenge and hatred, is to find justice in the face of corrupt scientists and politicians. He hates them, blaming the evils of the world for their selfish and greedy actions. Again, however, he fails to see how his own construction of a massive weapon and plans to obliterate London also reflect this same sort of selfish behaviour.
Essentially, though, his short-sightedness, despite being a product of his insanity, also stems from the fact that his growth wasn’t typical of most children. He was forced to mature all at once after seeing his parents die, and was thrust into a cold world in which he had to pretend to be a gentleman, the well-mannered and handsome boy of a very rich woman. He didn’t grow up well, though he did grow up, and it left a deep-seated darkness in him. His only hope for closure came from a man he met at the explosion, a man who held him back as he listened to his mother screaming in agony as she died. This man, Professor Layton, instilled in him a small hope that was left dormant, but never truly faded away.
But Clive isn’t evil. The older couple that he hired to work in the clock shop attest to that when Clive begins to run amok in his machine; they claim that he has a good heart and has been trampled on by the world until he reached his breaking point. It’s true--he is, deep down, a person who only wants what’s best for the world and for others. So, it’s unfortunate that his madness has caused him to enact his plans for the betterment of humankind in a less than favourable manner. He secretly wished, even, that the professor, the man who had saved his life ten years ago, would save him again by “talking him down” from his schemes.
Bitter, broken, and fuelled by hatred, Clive is perceived as evil and ruthless. However, at the very end of the day, this isn’t even close to the truth. He was a young boy who had his life snatched from him before it had even hardly begun, and the madness that gripped him soon after caused him to become obsessed with the idea of revenge. But really, his only wish is to be saved, to be understood and bettered, though this can be lost beneath his cold insanity. Calculating and cool at the best of times, he is an excellent liar, but when provoked or pulled out of his own realm of control, he becomes unstable. Clive is a wonderful example of a complex character that can come to be expected from the realm of Professor Layton.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Clive is both mentally and physically inclined. He’s resourceful, clever, and quite good at fooling others into believing whatever he’d like them to. However, his madness is a severe handicap, causing his logic and reason to be skewed. Being somewhat of a sociopath, he has no sense of love or family, though he dearly wishes that he did. His passion for justice and revenge is blinding, and was his ultimate downfall in the end along with his considerable arrogance.
His fears involve his parents’ death, and he has a strong distaste for violence against the weak and innocent. After all, he instructed his goons, no matter what they did, to never harm the professor or his companions, even though he was battling against them.
Essentially, he’s a crazy bitch, and that’s what causes him to ultimately fail.

Warnings: He is from the newest Professor Layton game so, yes, his posts and such will include spoilers! If you're sensitive to this sort of thing, you probably shouldn't be reading this in the first place, but please be aware if you haven't yet played Unwound Future. Also, he's a big fat liar, sociopath, and psycho for "justice" (think Light Yagami from Death Note, just not as genuinely evil). He will try to deceive your character, and he's very good at it, so just beware of that.
