Lavi was taking the exodus of his brood pretty hard. He cried every time he thought about his children, Apricot, little Tenne and especially his Pumpkin. Whom despite all her faults had always been his favorite. But they could only invite one child to stay this generation...the house was full as it was. And seeing as Lava had always displayed the characteristics of a strong heir, Lemonchello, Himself and the Sim Goddess made the only logical decision. Which didn't make it hurt any less of course.
Lava had, of course - accepted the family duty and agreed to carry on the family name and foreward the Line. In his time as an apprentice - Lava had become quite the skilled architect and had landed himself a partnership at Ace of Diamonds: Architectural Engineering Inc. He was working under the watchful eye of Jack de Diamonde - World renown Architect, premier designer for the poshest development in SimCity - as well as the husband of Flynn Alkaline, his mother's best friend. One can never have too many connections.
This partnership at Ace of Diamonds was his dream, it was his fast track to the top, the good life, security for his family. But it did not come without a price; He often found himself pulling 17 to 20 hour days in the drafting workshop and on-site with the crews who put his blueprints into realities of steel, glass and concerete. And when he wasn't working he was researching, drafting, studying and networking - anything he could to carve a name for himself outside of the shadow of his mother and family name.
But as time marched on Lava was reminded of his obligations to his family and began to seriously contemplate taking his relationship with Aurora to the next level. She had earned it after all...staying with him through all of the scandal and contriversey of their youth. She had given up many friends and opportunites that are afforded to the upper class in order to be with him. She had cast herself out of the glittering throng - all because she loved him. She deserved to be made an honest woman didn't she? But Lava was unsure if he was prepared to be an honest man.
Lava took a couple more days to mull his decision, but finally relented and called his long time flame over for a casual evening.
"I've missed you Lava... you seem so distant now that you have this job... don't got time for us little fish, huh?" Aurora stated with a chuckle and a teasing jab to his ribs under the foaming water of the hottub.
"You know its not like that 'Rory....its just a hard business... you have to give 110% if you even want to be noticed - let alone celebrated...And you know I want to be City Planner some day.... I would think you would be supportive of me trying to make something of myself..." Lava defended with a hint of irritation in his voice.
"You know I'm proud of you! I just miss seeing you - ya know.... " She waved a small hand to dismiss the subject entirely. "What did you want to talk about anyway?"
Lava scratched at his stubbly chin anxiously. "Well I was going to ask you if you would like to come live here with my family... I know we've talked about getting our own place... but I have obligations...and I think it would be lovely if I had you here with me...We'd see each other more... I could really use the boost of seeing your face every morning..."
Aurora accepted with a flurry of kisses and a smile before becoming a bit more serious. "I would love to! But...under one conditon... I need a room, that can be accessed only by me - and I don't want to answer any questions as to its purpose unless I choose to share... Can we agree on this?" With a bit of hesitation, Lava agreed to his girlfriends request - though he couldn't hide his curiosity.
With his mate chosen it was time for more appropriate physical appearances.
Aurora Kane - Knowlede/Pleasure - LTW Max all Skills
Lemonchello had always approved of her eldest son's girlfriend. She might not get on as well with her as her husband did, but Lemonchello was an abrasive personality and was mostly focused on her Career now that all her children were grown. Never the less, she welcomed Aurora, or Rory as she is more commonly known, warmly to the household.
Lemonchello and Lavi enjoyed relative calm and quiet now that they had moved out of the main house. Lava built them a cozy cottage that attached to the main house by a bridge over the small lake that occupied their property. Chello spent much of her time preparing her speeches and working on her remaining skills...she was close to the top Deputy District Attorney. She now worked in tandem with Flynn Alkaline to clean up the rampant corruption in Hestia Hills urban centers and restore public confidence in their justice system. Soon, if she played her cards right, her word would be The Law in Hestia Hills. And she wouldn't have it any other way.
While the more mature Arcobalenos were focusing on their careers and aspirations, Lava and Rory were up to something a little more soothing to one's savage beast. sexytimes. complete with all the bells and jingles.
It wasn't all work for the Arcobaleno clan, Chello in particular had taken to Gardening and seemed to have quite the green thumb, the Orange and Lemon orchard was flourishing and even more diverse and complex veggies were being nurtured under the Matriarchs care. It was incredible stress relief for the often overworked and overstressed Lemonchello.
Lavi had quietly, reached the top of his field. He had become the Hand of Posideon. Though he loved the sea and all her glories - it did not call to him like it used to. And after many weeks of hard thought - he decided to hand in his trident and garland of seaweed in persuit of a new passion.
He began to write. and write. and write. He published his first book in record time. it was an autobiographical tale of his family and their struggle for individual identity. "In Her Shadow: The Life and Love of Lemonchello Arcobaleno" It was an instant bestseller. Lavi was overjoyed and began working furiously on his next novel something with a more fantastical fare.
Speaking of fantastical fare, Rory had a booming hobby of her own. The secret room she had asked Lava to build was to be her sanctuary. Aurora's mother, Minerva, had been a high priestess in the Order of Hecate, one of Hestia Hills oldest all female spritual orders. After her mother's murder several of the other priestesses took on the job of educating Aurora and her sister Alice on the ways of the ancients. Aurora was a natural study and found her abilies empowering and freeing. This increased ten fold with the conception of her first child. She began to emit a noticeable glow that only intensified as the child grew. She spent days locked away in her Sanctuary, searching her books, scrying mirrors and spirit guides for answers on how to contain the glow.
Since her acceptance into the Arcobaleno household, Rory had adjusted well... but she spent a good measure of the day alone. Lava insisted that she shouldn't get a 9-5 job, but focus on her painting instead. She had agreed, being part pleasure sim she relished the idea of being taken care of, free to do whatever she chose with her time. She took up a number of different hobbies and even proof-read Lavi's latest manuscript for fun. She saw less and less of Lava after their first night together under one roof.
They barely ate together, Lava was always gone far before she rose. They barely ever slept together, he was always across the hall at his drafting table working on his latest masterpiece. Easily angered and annoyed when she would approach him for even the most basic of questions. His eyes would often follow her as she stormed from the room, realizing a little to late that he had not said the right thing. Lava was never good at apologizing, he never had to. He prided himself on always being perfect, always being everything anyone needed - whenever they needed it. He could not admit, not even to himself, that he wasn't Superman. That he couldn't be in three places at once. Which only drove him to work harder, he tried to be there for Rory, he would send flowers home when he was away. He would call or email when he could, but the stress took its toll and he forgot often.
Aurora didn't know if this climate was any way to raise a child, with parents who were more like roommates than lovers. She questioned her choice to come here...she questioned her decision to keep the child. She figured it was high time that she told Lava. She couldn't keep her growing belly a secret forever.
Aurora called Lava down from his office, she waited in the living room - pacing a grove into the hardwood floor.
Lava entered with a curious look on his face, worried a little by her instant tone.
"I have somethin to tell you Lava..." She hesitated wiping her hands across her face several times before being pulled to a gentle stop by Lava's big hands.
"Hey" He ventured gently. "What is it... Are you ok...?"
"I'm Pregnantbutwedon'thavetokeepitImeanIknowhowbusyyouarewithworkandeverythinganditwouldbeaburdenandyouknowand.."She said all at once her eyes shut tight to the quivering sound of her voice.
Lava took a moment to process what she said, dumbstruck by the runon sentences' contents. Slowly a grin spread across his face as he put a hand up to stroke the softness of her cheek.
"Hey....come on...this is good news! We're going to have a baby, love! I couldn't be happier!" Which wasn't entirely the truth, but he was sure the concept could grow on him...hopefully. Aurora looked up at him hopefully, and seeing the reassurance she needed in his eyes she let out a burst of laughter and a couple errant tears streaked her face. So, they really were going to do this huh?
=Hope it wasn't too much readin for you all! The next couple updates will probably be like this, I'm trying to keep this atleast loosely story motivated, I feel it gives the sims more substance. And besides, whats the fun of the sims without the story to go along with it!
Feedback is always appreciated!
Also, sorry about the central alignment it wouldn't switch back to left justify for some reason...=
