Storm

Sep 24, 2005 13:38

Well, me thinks this an opportune time for an update. Hurricane Rita hit 125 miles South of us about 3 a.m. this day. It moved North and came over us as a cat-2 about 10:00-11:00.It is a large storm, and at this time is still blowing tropical storms winds here,up to 75 mph. I think we have dodged a bullet. We have lost (uprooted), a large chinaberry tree, and our pecan tree are pitiful. We had minor flooding in 2 rooms, and have been w/o power since 2-4 a.m. Once the winds subsided to tropical storm size, I have run temp. power from a generator, whilst Virginia mopped & sopped water. By and large we have come through this ok,and barring any tornadic activity we
will be ok. We do have a massive clean-up on hand, but having sufferred through Gulf storms for many years,we shall prevail! mike
