A new chapter to the tale...

It's just before dawn on the coast. A sandy beach lays quiet, with nothing but the sound of the wind and waves to let the world know that the sea was awake. Slowly, methodically, a rider approaches. The horse breathes slowly, it's breath reflected in the cold morning air. The rider shifts open his coat, molded from brown leather, and reaching to his knees, and pulls out a mask. He adjusts his fedora, and puts the mask on his face. "Alright Sioux," Gam said to the horse, "Let's shake this up a bit." And with that, Gam dug his heels in and flicked the reins, and Sioux took off along the beach. Gam's coat trailed behind him, and he shouted in glee. He came upon a rocky outlet which he and his ride deftly leapt over, and upon his landing, his fedora flew off. Gam glanced back to see Paladin, on horseback as well, leap off of a cliff above him, catching Gam's fedora on the way down. Paladin raced towards him, handing off the fedora as he passed. Gam reciprocated, nudging his horse faster to keep pace, as he tugged his hat back on.

The two friends raced onward, until they came to a trail leading back away from the beach, into a wooded area. They slowed their pace and rode silently to a rustic cabin, and went around to the barn behind it. They strode in, and dismounted. "Nice moves Paladin," Gam said, while pulling the saddle off of Sioux. "Not mine," Paladin answered back, rubbing his horse on the nose, "It's all Rose here." The two stabled their rides, and sauntered into the cabin, where there was a grizzled looking man on a satellite phone. Despite the rustic looking exterior, the inside of the cabin was all cutting edge technology, and sophisticated library. The man on the phone, nodded as Gam and Paladin walked in, and went to the kitchen, pouring themselves some coffee. Shortly after, the grizzled man walked in and poured himself a cup of coffee as well, saying, "So, just how rusty were your riding skills?"
"Not too bad, Ben, once I got the groove back," Gam said, "But Paladin didn't miss a beat."
Paladin smirked as Ben remarked, "Well, you spent six months training on Avalon with me and my girls, and Paladin was there for years, Gam, of course he's gonna have you beat on that edge. Speaking of my girls, how did they treat you."
"Like old times," Paladin said, "Although Sioux didn't take to Gam quite as well as Rose took to me." Gam rolled his eyes and shot back, "Story of my life- girls always taking more of a shine to Paladin than to me. How's about that phone call, Ben. Got good news for us?"
"You bet. Got one of the other shipping captains coming into port tonight, said you can hitch a ride to the island with them. Should be a quick trip."
"What boat?" Gam asked.
"Does it matter?" Ben asked.
Paladin looked at Gam and nodded, saying, "It does."
"Boat's called the St. Brigit, you know the captain, Louis Desalle."
Gam scratched his chin. "We know him. That will be perfect."
Paladin stretched and shrugged, "Except he's French."
